Allenspark Fire Protection District is seeking a new Fire Chief.

Fire Chief Job Description:

Reports to:  Board of Directors

Principal Responsibilities:

The Allenspark Fire Protection District (District) Fire Chief is appointed and serves at the discretion of the Board of Directors.  The Chief is responsible for the organization, planning, financial management, administration, training and delivery of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) services.

Specific Duties:
  1. Provide leadership for day-to-day operations of the Allenspark Fire Department.

  2. Manage the delivery of Fire, Rescue and EMS services to the district.

  3. Provide appropriate in-house and external training for the volunteers, maintaining adequate records of such.

  4. Recruit volunteers for the Department and take actions to retain such volunteers.

  5. Formulate and consistently and fairly apply Department rules and regulations.

  6. Formulate annual budgets for the Department and operate within approved budgets.

  7. Maintain records of all fire, medical, wildland and Hazmat incidents.

  8. Enforce the laws of this state and ordinances and resolutions of the political subdivisions in which the Department operates, relating to the prevention of fires and suppression of arson.

  9. Maintain appropriate relationships with community, government agencies, mutual aid districts, the Board and Department volunteers.

  10. Represent the District at state and county fire organization meetings.

  11. Interface with other fire-oriented agencies as appropriate.

  12. Inspect properties where new homes are being built, camps, businesses and existing residential properties as requested.

  13. Provide specifications for any equipment or facilities to be acquired or built.

  14. Provide for the maintenance of equipment, buildings and grounds.

  15. Identify and make applications for both government and private financial grants.

  16. Acquire appropriate and adequate bids for equipment or work to be done for the District.

  17. Attend and participate in regular and special Board meetings.
